We are Cloverlea Apiaries ‘The Friendly Bee Company’ a family run honey bee farm, nestled in the Ochil Hills Perthshire. Known to many as the ‘Bee girls’, you will usually see Karen or Tracy (sisters) at farmers markets and agricultural shows, while dad (aka Jeff) is usually busy in our honey house, jarring our amazing Scottish honey.
After many years of hobbyist bee keeping, in 2017, we made the decision to all move to our small holding and set up Cloverlea Apiaries, The Friendly Bee Company’. So not only do we all work together we live together too.
We sell local blossom, heather and infused honey, as well as homemade honey mustards, which are made to a family recipe handed down from our Grannie.
The health and welfare of our honey bees as well as other wild pollinators is of the upmost importance to us, so we ensure our hives are migrated to areas of increased forage. This provides local farmers an increase in natural pollinators for their crops, when needed without effecting the eco-system.
Our bees work really hard for every gram of honey they collect, and then sealing it with wax, using a variety of methods including moulded, tinned and glass jars, we hand-make beeswax candles for sale, so that nothing is wasted we use everything we can that the hive produces.
For many years people have seen the benefits of honey and beeswax in both cosmetics and ointments. So, in 2018, we developed (with help from Dr S Robb) a full skin care range called ‘Bee Natural Skin Care’ all our products are handmade in small batches, on our farm.
Our face creams, body scrubs, foot scrubs, soaps, bath fizz and creams only contain natural preservatives and all ingredients are ethically sourced. Our cosmetics do not contain parabens, sulphates or palm oil and are fully safety assessed and comply to cosmetic legislation for sale. All our packaging is made from recycled materials, and once used can be recycled.
