ARTISAN SOURDOUGH BAKER
Hi I am Joe, owner of Sour Joe’s Artisan Sourdough. I've always found excitement in baking. The smell of freshly baked bread is one of my favourite things.
I used to work in the construction industry and in my spare time developed an increasingly obsessive interest in sourdough and fermentation, the whole process is very fascinating to me! After lockdown, I made the decision to turn a page and try something new.
I started working in a bakery and in that time, it became clear to me that this was the road that I needed to be on. My obsession was taking over my home, as I was baking and selling to local people in my village, word got around and the volume I was baking on the weekends was increasing. I found a premises in the village and that’s when it got real!
Around 1 year ago, my shop opened its doors, and it has been so overwhelmingly positive, it is incredibly rewarding to see people enjoying my bread as much as I enjoy making it, and to hear the amazing feedback from customers makes it all the worthwhile. I search to find the best and most local produce to use in my products, as I think it is so important to support local and small businesses, just like me.
I have a grand selection of various loaves, I like to experiment with flavours and combinations so each week I create 2 different "special" loaves that are not part of my regular bread list. I also currently do a selection of sweet treats such as sourdough cookies, and sourdough knots that I also change up weekly. Everything in the bakery is 100% plant based.
My shop is currently open to public Friday 10-3, Saturday 10-3 and Sunday 10-1, and I offer wholesale to businesses on Monday and Thursday.
