YMCA Tayside is an inclusive Christian organisation established in 1995, open to young people of all faiths and none, encouraging them to belong, contribute and thrive. Although part of an international movement that started in 1844, YMCA Tayside is autonomous and seeks to serve local communities by focusing primarily on the needs of its young people.
Our vision is to support young people to build a positive future through their engagement of opportunities that develop the Mind, Body, and Spirit.
Our support is open to all young people aged 8-25 and nurtures their wellbeing by building positive, trustful relationships with the purpose of having "somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to". Our Youth Work services have a particular focus on young people who face multiple and complex barriers to economic, social and education inclusion.
Youth empowerment is at the heart of what we do by recognising young people’s strengths, experiences, and the impact they can have on the world around them. We embrace young people’s choice to become involved in the opportunities we provide through a needs led approach. Ultimately, we do things by and with young people, not to and for them.
Our main services include, LifeSkills, Health & Wellbeing, 1 to 1 Employability, Personal Development, Mentoring, Outdoor Activities and Universal Youth Work. Over the last 12 months we have engaged with over 800 Individuals.

BUY A BRICK
Standing on Atholl Street, the 130-year-old St Andrew’s and St Stephen’s building is being transformed into an advanced youth centre for young people across Tayside. We purchased the C-listed church in December 2000 with huge ambitions to transform it into an innovative space for young people containing a wide range of engaging facilities. Here, young people will have access and opportunities to learn where they can improve their confidence and skills, meet other young people and receive support from our dedicated youth workers.
You or your business could help support the young people of Tayside. Become a part of YMCA history by donating to our Y Centre project. Our ‘Reserve A Corporate Brick’ campaign gives you the opportunity to add an engraved tile to part of the new Y Centre. We are working towards our building being Net Zero and are using sustainable materials throughout the building. We are reusing wood stripped out of the old Church to make wooden tiles that will be engraved with a message from you or your business (around 50 characters). These donations will be used towards meeting the costs of the internals of the building so that it feels like ‘home’.
